Day 2 After Surgery

Wow! What a journey. Tim is doing ok. Sore and very swollen. Tim's arm and hand are very swollen. It is very uncomfortable for Tim. It is hard for him to find a comfortable position. We hope to head the car for home tomorrow. It will be a long, hard journey for Tim. Please pray for both Tim and me. Pray that he will be able to tolerate the journey and that I will be able to drive the 12 hours without worrying about Tim :S It still amazes me the little gifts God places in our day. We had Pasta Day in the cafeteria. The chef was so sweet. He personally had to make up my tray to make sure I had "all the good stuff!!" Dr. Fassier is out of town at a conference. He had to call us and check to see how Tim was doing. The new resident stopped in this morning and said the surgery was "amazing!!" The radial nerve can stop functioning just by "looking at it. But Tim's was buried in all the scar bone. We had to chisel it out of bone. It is a miracle that Tim is moving his hand!!!" Wow!!! Our God is a God of miracles!!! God STILL DOES MIRACLES!!!!

Just talked with Dr. Fassier. We gave him a run for his money again :) Tim's bone was very marbleized. He had a very difficult time isolating the radial nerve. He did a lot of very careful chiseling. Once the nerve was isolated the rodding went well. Dr. Fassier was very pleased to see that the bone was very vascular. Good sign that the bone will heal on it's own. There was fear that at the old fracture site the bone was dead. Wow! God is so good. I am speechless.....All praise belongs to Him!!! Tim is sore and nauseated but still smiling :)

Surgery is DONE!

Yeah God! Surgery is done! I have not been able to talk with Dr. Fassier yet but the nurses tell me that it all went well. Tim's arm is straight and he is wiggling his fingers. Total yeah God! He is really sore and a bit nauseated but resting well. Thank you for all your prayers! Honestly, I do not know how people do this without Jesus in their lives. Jesus, the name that calms our fears. The great I AM. We rest in Him!

Back in Montreal!

Tim and I arrived safely in Montreal last night around 7:30. Long day of driving, but for the most part uneventful. We have had a busy morning. LOTS of doctors and specialists to see!!! We are going to see them all together this afternoon. It is a great time to address problems and map out a plan for Tim's care. Surgery is still on for tomorrow. I have not gotten a definite time yet. We are now checked into our hospital room. So fun to see the nurses and aids again. Lots of hugs! How blessed to have staff (doctors, nurses, aids, housekeeping...) all greet us with hugs!!! People see the car in the parking lot with the Michigan plates and start looking for Tim!!!! Soooo sweet! God has blessed us with so many people to brighten our day. Love to all!!

Montreal 2013

Tim and I will leave for Montreal Monday morning. We are sooo blessed that Tim has recovered from many of his car accident injuries. It has been a long road. We are planning on seeing all of the specialists Tuesday. (PT, OT, surgeons, labs, genetic specialists,....) Lets just say I will be wearing my tennis shoes!!! The plan right now is for Tim to have surgery on his right upper arm. This is one of the bones he broke in the accident. We have had 3 surgeries on this arm in the last year. The bone is bent at about 40 degrees. It is not good. They are just not sure if there is enough stable bone to attempt reroding the arm. And, there is always risk in rodding an arm. There is a risk of losing function in the hand. Tim is currently scheduled for surgery Wed. morning at 9 am. It will be a 3 hour surgery. We covet your prayers!
My devotions have been on being refined by Jesus. One of the questions asked a goldsmith was, "How do you know that the gold is done?" The answer from the goldsmith, "When I can see my reflection in the gold." What a powerful word picture! Pray that Tim and our family can reflect Christ, our Lord and Savior, while we are being placed in the fire again! God Bless!!
